Web Seminar: Integration of Automated Sample Preparation and ICP-MS Trace Metals Analysis of Clinical Samples

Content and goals of the Web Seminar

Duration: ~30 min
Language: English

Speaker:
Rui Santos, PhD, Analytik Jena

The analysis of trace metals in clinical samples like blood and serum is common routine and an integral part of patient diagnosis, pathology, and clinical research. This includes levels of essential minerals, biomarkers and toxic metals. Currently, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is the most popular analytical method due to its ultratrace measurement sensitivity for all relevant elements and high sample throughput.

The practical bottleneck that limits a laboratory’s sample throughput is the sample preparation procedure, which involves homogenization, dilutions, and reagent additions. Therefore, it involves a significant manual workload. Upcoming regional regulations present additional challenges in terms of method validation and compliance. This webcast will introduce a fully automated and integrated solution for the preparation and analysis of clinical samples with ICP-MS. Different sample preparation methods will be discussed. The advantages of using an IVD-certified reagent kit will be highlighted, using practical analytical studies.
